Why? - Another Traffic Question

Why is it that a slow driver (and I mean slow....going at least 10-15 miles UNDER the speed limit on a major highway), thinks it's ok to flip you off when you come up on them going normal traffic speed and pass them as any normal driver would.

Number 1... they were the ones going below the speed limit, what do they expect for traffic to do.

Number 2... Isn't it the right thing to do, to go around them by passing them in another lane, so they can go about their merry slow way. DAH!!!

Why can't people drive

I have a long commute, so I am on the road a lot. I've noticed that most people do not know the rules of the road. My number one pet peeve is when slow cars are in the far left lane (i.e., the fast lane or passing lane) and they do not care that they have a string of cars behind them and that they are driving too slow for that lane. I have no problem if they want to go the exact speed limit, or even if they want to drive 5-10 miles under the speed limit, but they need to be in the proper lane (i.e., the slow lane). It is common courtesy that if someone comes up behind you while you are in the fast lane, you should move over and let them pass. Then they wonder why there is a car on their bumper when they are going 50 mph in a 60 mph zone. The put on their brakes to try and scare you off, but really they should be getting over to let the faster car pace.

I really believe that a lot of the traffic problems are caused by this type of driving. I'm sure you've seen it, when all of a sudden you come up on slow traffic, and you can see that one car ahead, in the fast lane, where no one can pass, slowing traffic down and there is not anyone if front of them. If that person was in the slow lane (i.e., far right lane), they would not be holding up traffic.

Then there is of course, the car that is going 80-90 miles an hour and is darting in and out of traffic, and not giving you enough time to get out of the fast lane, because they came up on you so quick you didn't see them coming. Then when you try to get over a lane so they can pass, they dart over there and zoom around you to cut in front of you so close that you think they are going to take the front of your car off.

I just think the bottom line is, drivers (the turtles and the speedies) need to be courteous of other drivers.
